    • Prejudice, Incidents & Hate Crime – this link will explain what these are and how to report them
    • Disability Harassment Reporting Campaign – many disabled people suffer from harassment, anti-social behaviour or crimes which they don’t report. Local Councils, Dorset Police, other organisations and voluntary groups want to change this. To encourage people to report incidents, we think it would be useful for people to understand what will happen if you call the police and there is support for disabled people to help them through the process.

    Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA)
    ​Self Neglect Toolkit - This toolkit aims to ensure that practitioners are equipped with methods of working with people in a manner that is meaningful and co-ordinated. The Toolkit must be used in conjunction with Bournemouth and Poole and Dorset Safeguarding Adults Boards, Self-Neglect and Hoarding Multi Agency Guidance.

    • Action on Elder Abuse A charity working to protect, and prevent the abuse of, vulnerable older adults. Helpline 08088088141
    • Age UK Age Concern and Help the Aged have joined forces to become Age UK
    • Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) has a range of policy initiatives, press releases and consultation responses 
    • Care Quality Commission - The independent regulator of health and social care in England which helps make sure better care is provided for everyone.
    • Citizens Advice Bureau helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers
    • Dorset Advocacy works to provide relief for people living in the Dorset area with a learning, physical or mental disability, and those suffering frailty with age, assist them to protect their rights and gain equality of opportunity.
    • DoLs (Deprivation of Liberty) legislation to make sure that the person made subject to the authorisation and assessment process is supported to understand what is happening to them; and that they are made aware of their rights and entitlements
    • Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) service An Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) works with someone who lacks capacity to make certain important decisions, if there is no one else to speak up for them. The advocate supports the person so that their views are put across. In Bournemouth, the IMCA service is run by Dorset Advocacy.
    • Independent Safeguarding Authority helps prevent unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults.
    • Mencap information and advice for parents, carers, family members, someone with a learning disability, professionals
    • MIND helps people take control of their mental health.
    • No Secrets Department of Health webpage. Guidance on developing and implementing multi-agency policies and procedures to protect vulnerable adults from abuse
    • Nursing and Midwifery Council regulates nurses and midwives in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Islands. They maintain the largest register of healthcare professionals anywhere in the world, ensuring that they are properly qualified and competent to work in the UK
    • Source - An advice, information and support directory for adults in Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset.
    • The Ann Craft Trust - protecting people with Learning Disabilities from abuse.
    • Trading Standards is a local authority service. Online help may be available through your local trading standards service website for both consumers and business. Use the post code search to find your local office.
    • Whistleblowing recognises the key role whistleblowing can play in anticipating and avoiding serious risks that arise in and from the workplace.
    • Women’s Aid is the key national charity working to end domestic violence against women and children.
